Stripe test mode and Affonso tracking

Affonso only tracks Stripe live-mode payments. How to test end-to-end without charging real cards.

Affonso processes Stripe webhooks only from live mode. Purchases made in Stripe test mode are intentionally ignored — they will never appear as referrals in Affonso.

How to test end-to-end

Use a separate sandbox program to keep test activity out of your real program. Run the Stripe Checkout test in live mode and use a 100% off coupon so no money is charged:

  • The cookie is set in the browser.
  • The cookie value is passed into the Checkout Session metadata.
  • Stripe fires the live-mode webhook to Affonso.
  • The referral converts. A completed zero-value one-time purchase is recorded as a sale without a commission earning.

To check a non-zero percentage commission, use a partial discount and complete a small purchase. Percentage commission uses the net amount after discount, before tax.

Why test mode isn't tracked

Test-mode events can be generated freely against Stripe's test API. If Affonso accepted them, anyone could fabricate referrals and inflate commission totals. Limiting to live mode protects program integrity.
