Add lookalike websites to a Discovery agent

When you create a Discovery agent, you can add up to five lookalike website URLs. Affonso uses them as seeds to find similar pages in the same language and fit. The step is optional if you already set a keyword or a competitor.

This is not the older New Search flow under Discovery. Lookalikes live in the agent create wizard at Agents.

Before you begin

Make sure you have:

Access to create a Discovery agent (one live agent per team).
At least one keyword or competitor if you skip lookalikes. Lookalikes alone are not enough to create the agent.
Up to five public website URLs that look like the partners you want.

Self-learning from accepted hits is separate and not part of this step.

Add lookalikes in the create wizard

Open New agent

Go to Agents and start New agent. Work through the steps until you reach Lookalikes (after Keywords and competitors, before the summary).

Enter up to five URLs

On Which sites are lookalikes?, paste a website URL and click Add lookalike. Repeat until you have the sites you want.

You can leave the list empty and continue. The counter shows how many of the five slots you used. At 5/5, Add lookalike is hidden.

Check the summary and create

On the summary step, confirm the lookalike URLs, then create the agent. Affonso stores them as search seeds for the lookalike run.

Common issues

I cannot add a sixth lookalike

Cause: The hard cap is five lookalike URLs per agent.

Fix: Remove one URL, then add the new site, or create with the five you already have.

Create fails with only lookalikes

Cause: The agent still needs a keyword or a competitor as a source.

Fix: Go back in the wizard, add at least one keyword or competitor, then create again.
