Want to share instructions with partners?
Campaigns are short paid asks. Affiliates submit proof. You review the work. Approving creates a normal earning that enters your usual payout.
A retainer is different. You pay an accepted partner a fixed amount on a monthly or weekly day. They do not submit proof. The first payment is the next configured day after you accept them.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
- access to Campaigns
- at least one approved affiliate
- a clear ask, a reward amount, and a start date
Steps
Open Campaigns
Open Campaigns and select Create campaign.
Set the ask and reward
Enter a Name and an optional Ask. Set Reward in your program currency. Set Start. End is optional.
Choose the Proof you want: Text, URL, and Images.
Optional Advanced settings
Open Advanced to set Max submissions per affiliate and Email eligible affiliates when it goes live. Turn on Save as draft if you are not ready to publish.
If the start date is in the future and you are not saving a draft, the campaign stays Scheduled until that date.
Create the campaign
Select Create campaign. If the start date is in the future, approved eligible affiliates see it under Upcoming in their portal. They see Available from and Available until, and they cannot submit until it starts. When the start date arrives, it becomes available.
A campaign can be limited to affiliate groups. An empty eligibility list hides it from everyone.
Retainer campaigns
Choose Retainer as the reward. Set the amount and the rhythm: a monthly day (1-28 or last day) or a weekday. Applications are always required. The campaign has no budget cap.
When you accept a partner, you can attach a condition. That condition is per partner and you can edit it later. A period with a condition lands in Waiting for approval. You approve or decline it from there. It never auto-approves.
To stop one partner, use End retainer. Paused time is not paid after you resume. Changing payday or rhythm also starts from that change, not from the original accept date.
To review proof after affiliates submit, see Review campaign submissions.
Common issues
Nobody sees the campaign
Cause: The campaign is still a draft, the end date already passed, the eligibility list is empty, or the affiliate is not approved. A scheduled campaign is not hidden. Eligible affiliates see it under Upcoming without Submit.
Solution: Publish the draft. Confirm at least one group is eligible. An empty list hides the campaign from everyone. Affiliates must be approved. If they already see Upcoming, wait for the start date.
Affiliates were not emailed
Cause: Email eligible affiliates when it goes live is off, or the campaign is still a draft.
Solution: Turn the switch on in Advanced before the campaign goes live. Drafts do not send mail.
