How Managed Payouts work

Affonso pays your affiliates as Merchant of Record. Covers legal structure, SLA, supported currencies, edge cases.

Managed Payouts let you pay one consolidated invoice to Affonso and have Affonso pay each affiliate individually. This article covers the legal, operational, and edge-case details.

Affonso acts as Merchant of Record for managed payouts. The relationship is between you and Affonso only — not between you and each affiliate. The invoice we issue covers the affiliate commissions plus transaction fees, billed as a service.

This matters for your accountant: it's a service invoice, not a pass-through agent fee.

Timing

Managed Payouts are not real-time. After your invoice is paid, affiliates are typically paid within 7 business days. The payout cycle itself runs monthly on the 1st.

Supported currencies and methods

  • Currency: USD only.
  • Methods: PayPal and wire transfer.

Affiliates without payout details

If an affiliate hasn't entered PayPal or wire details:

  1. Affonso contacts them automatically.
  2. If they don't respond before the invoice is issued, you choose either to exclude them from the invoice (their commissions roll into a future cycle) or to refund their commissions later.

Activating Managed Payouts mid-cycle

Switching takes effect from the next payout cycle. Payouts already generated under the previous setup must be processed manually or deleted so they regenerate under managed mode.

Works alongside the REST API

Managed Payouts apply to any tracked conversion, including those reported via the REST API for non-native payment integrations.

Configuration

Enable and configure Managed Payouts in Affiliate Program → Payment Terms.
