Definition
Referral
A visitor or customer sent to a business by a partner or existing customer.
A referral is recorded when a person arrives through a qualifying link, code, or invitation. It can later become a lead or customer, depending on the program’s goal.
Example
A newsletter reader clicks a partner’s link to try a billing app. That visit is a referral.
